After a career in interior design, Kay Kennedy turned to a full time career as a freelance writer in the mid-eighties. Three books and scores of magazine and newspaper articles have been published since 1986, in addition to newsletters and marketing materials for both small business owners and large corporations. During the late eighties to early nineties, she was also a business columnist and features writer for the Pierce County Business Examiner in Tacoma, Washington.
In addition, Kay was actively involved in the business community, having served on the boards of various business organizations in Washington State.
Several writing projects were unique to Kay’s business, so have never before been shared in a writing book, including joint newsletters and ad-columns. Her book, with its step-by-step guide to surviving as a freelance writer, is the result of 20 years of experience - much of it while traveling the backroads of America and Canada. Since Kay succeeded as a writer while managing to live her dream lifestyle, she realized other writers might want to know how they can make their dreams come true, too.
The result is the book, Portable Writing and this Web site, where Kay shares profitable techniques and tips on writing and traveling. The book proves anyone can make money writing, no matter where they live or roam.
